The Browser War is Over

By Editor

I remember a time when Firefox came on the scene and people everywhere were talking about how it was the new IE, then Chrome came and people were torn since then there have been even more browsers competing for our attention but... no one cares anymore!

Unless some magical browser appears that can do something spectacular like give you a pony or make you a coffee it is unlikely to make waves.

Looking around here there is a wide range of browsers in use, occasionally there is a discussion about recent updates but mostly any browser talk is in the tech room - as the boys and girls ensure every website we develop works perfectly across them all.

What is your browser of choice?

Mine is Chrome... and I will tell you why... I secretly think that Google will take over the world one day and by using their products I will be in their good books and on the winning side! Aside from the craziness, Chrome offered me something I hadn't found before in the multi tabs, the open tab history pages and its general ease of use, now every browser is using the same format - but I found it on Chrome first. Although recently Chrome has crashed and every now and again Google Gears stop working, I know that it is just Google playing around and trying to make my experience better - I am not just trying to please the Google gods, most of the time I am genuinely happy.

However, I do like to try new browsers every now and again. I just don't get Opera, why does it remember every website I have ever opened and assume I want them all open when I re-start the browser?! IE is obviously a browser of my childhood and there it will stay... I know that the new update is meant to be fab and makes it work like a dream, but I just can't bring myself to step back in time.

What do you think about browsers, are you even bothered?
