The amount of times that I have sworn, slammed and shook my computer are numerous - all it does is sit there mocking me for wanting to do the simplest tasks. Throwing the mouse across the room may make me feel better for a brief ten minutes, after a hard shut down and a restart most of the time the computer works as if nothing has happened.
Arg!!
The cycle of love/hate is never ending, but all one sided, my computer doesn't care - it isn't testing me to see how high it can get my blood rate or what new swear words I have learnt this week, it is just an object.
Well...not for much longer if Google has its way.
Researchers at Tel Aviv Uni are working on a Google funded project that is teaching computers regret. The software that they are developing will allow computers to learn from their decisions and make better ones next time.
Prof. Yishay Mansour of Tel Aviv Uni's Blavatnik School of Computer Science has developed an algorithm that lets the computer adapt to a situation and learn as it is running.
Is this the start of computers making their own decisions - will it become an iRobot scenario where the rogue robots will take over the world?!
Who knows, but I doubt this research will help me and my computer's relationship, maybe I just need gadget counselling!
